Several weeks ago Norton 360 reported that it had found a piece of malware on my machine. I suspect it came by email because I only go on "safe" sites and I HAVE been getting a lot of obvious phishing and bogus email. (Some with friends and families email in the "from" box).
At any case, Norton didn't catch it until my machine had been infected. It said that my machine was the "attacker". It did however clean this from my machine. All seemed well until a few weeks later when I noticed my machine running noticeably slower. Norton didn't pick up anything but I noticed strange processes taking up an inordinate amount of resources and things like that. It seemed that once I had taken care of one problem, another would immediately pop up. Norton also showed that something was trying to penetrate my security. This was being done ALOT.
My guess is, is that I had several things infected on my machine. I had to run the Full Scan to find anything there. This took several hours each time because even my backup had been infected and when it did a full scan there was over 10 million files to scan!! Finally, it seems that my system is clean. I was lucky that I didn't have to reload the OS. I was really close to having to do that I believe.

I have also been seeing increasing penetration of banks and such in the trade publications. Adobe is the latest victim as a production version of ColdFusion was penetrated and SSN's, Names, addresses, and such were stolen in the states. Also, their Reader has a current vulnerability. (Doesn't it always).

Anyway, stay vigilant!:toobad:
