Thanks for the link, Mischa! I wasn't aware of it. I'll have fun going through it, seeing as I am somewhat of a big kid! :-)

Well, I thought I would post this privately as I felt that thread should be a place for people to freely vent, but not argue (which I am doing too much of these days...)!

I used to feel as you stated about DJ's, until I started working with them. I once performed a bizarre cabaret band version of Pictures at an Exhibition (ensemble was banjo, drum set, bass, accordion, bassoon, trombone, keyboards, bass clarinet, cello, harp...and DJ). The "Samuel" Goldenberg und "Schmuÿle" movement was an improvisation between myself and the DJ, who was working with an old recording. It was a hoot, and what this guy could do was very creative (can't remember his name).

But I do like what you say about Beethoven. The myth of the lone composer, devoid of social needs is a bit much for me. Certainly not something to aspire to!

    Dj Kid Koala.

I played a show with this young guy - was standing right beside him. I was completely blown away. No digital effects - all by hand by manipulating the volume and the speed of the record. Very very hard to do. And, heck, the intonation is pretty good. He is sweet as can be, and a truly dedicated musician...I hope you might agree.
