Default Unnatural Acts of Opera

Well - Salomé:

Anyway - accidentally I found this opera blog, a blog riddled with loads of complete live recordings from Bayreuth, the MET and so on. Loads of elder, full recordings, that had been discontinued by the manufacturer like the ravishing Tristan recording with Kleiber or the Furtwängler Don with Gobbi & Schwarzkopf.

The site is a bit odd to say the least, each recording starts with a little silly 5 minutes chit-chat (though Eugen Onegin à la Brokeback Mountain wasn't that bad). Worth to bookmark, it brought for instance for a while the recent London Tristan as well as others. I love that site, the commitment of opera maniacs is as puzzling as it's great!

And it offers a lot, really, just browse a bit through the previous podcasts: http://parterre.com/unnatural-acts-of-opera/

Or here: http://www.podcastdirectory.com/podc...e.php?iid=1684

Survive the chit-chat and enjoy...!

That's worth a thread of its own a thread of its own. I also admire, and am puzzled by, the commitment of opera maniacs. That's not to criticise them - I think they and opera are great - but it is a puzzle. Opera somehow hits the spot in the popular imagination more than, say, a harpsichord recital on a wet Sunday morning.

This site is great, isn't it!
Found it years ago through OPERA-L.
