Default Mongolian Classical

Hello Dear Classical Lovers!

Good day to you! My name is Enkhbat, from Mongolia!Land of Genghis Khan

In this thread, I'll inform all about Mongolian Classical.

We have history and experience of Classical. Mongolian Symphony Orchestra was established in 1924 by Mongolian, Russian Composers as Gonchigsumlaa. Last year, we celebrated 85th anniversary.

Mongolian State Philharmonic/MSP/performed "Playing Love" concert on yesterday or 24th of January. MSP performed OSTs of Mongolian and World Great Films by Mongolian Morin Khuur/horse headed fiddle/ Assembly - MKhA

Three years ago, A Morin Khuurch/Morin Khuur player/ initiated this idea. Conducter Batchuluun, Tuvshinsaikhan have supported and prepared for the concert.

"Playing Love"began with Murdorj's Altan Urgoo/Golden Palace - One of the greatest epic movie of Mongolian films/'s music. Murdorj used some Mongolian traditional music as "Huh torgon deel"/blue silk coat/. The concerto continued with other music of Mongolian films as "Ene Huuhnuud uu?"/This is the women/. It was truly harmonic and nostalgic. Then got into world films!

OST of Foreign films:
  • Kitaro - Soong Sisters
  • John Williams - Schindler's List
  • Ennio Morricone - Playing love of 1900
  • Tan Dun - Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon
  • music of Tae Jan Gum/Korean Drama/

"Playing love" was climax of the concerto. I almost cried! You know, actually it is played by piano. But we heard it by Morin khuur! Here it is:

I claimed again to myself that if we master an instrument, we could play any melody!
Audience really like Tae Jan Gum cause it broadcasted in Mongolia. Actually, I don't like it. But MKhA almost changed my mind by its music! Children sing the song of Tae Jan Gum with them.

The concert ended with Jantsannorov's "Munkh tengeriin huchin dor"/Under the eternal blue sky/.

Hooray for the Mongolian Symphony Orchestra! Welcome Enkhbat. The horse headed fiddle is a tremendously lush sound and very dramatic to look at. One day I want to visit Mongolia. A neighbour spent over a year there and said nothing but good things about it. I think he nearly came home with a Mongolian wife...

Thank you very much for posting that video, and congratulations to the Mongolian Symphony Orchestra.

I had never heard of the Morin Khuur but now I love it! What a beautiful sound. The soloist in the video is excellent.
