Thumbs up The Healing Power Of Music

Not exactly Classical Music,

But this is an interesting video about nostalgic singer Patricia Hammond,
her experiences touring Nursing homes,
and some of the miracles that happen when she sings the songs the people in the homes
remember from their youth.

Music can be definitely therapeutic.
I recall one time on overimbibing cheap wine and i listened to
a piece the next morning which was helpful with the hangover.

Do you know any of the work of the neurologists on music - eg Oliver Sacks' 'Musicophilia' - fascinating. Of course they are only confirming and being scientific about what mankind has known for centuries - that music 'hath the power to calm the troubled breast'etc

I think I've posted about this before but my father was in a nursing home about 5 years ago and I used to visit him everyday. One day I brought a "boom box" and a CD set of "Best of" Big Band music. I didn't say anything to anyone before I turned the music on but watched the old folks as the music started. The vast majority of their faces just lit up. I ended up giving the CD's to the nursing home so they could play them on a regular basis.
