Now Scott, you be careful with that Satie, red wine, candlelight and making love and all that stuff. I can't remember how many kids you've got, but you don't want to be making any more, do you? I urge your wife to make a run for it the moment you place the Satie in the CD player and turn down the lights ....

I still have to listen to the Sibelius passage proposed by ReinerT. Just can't get down to it right now. But I will.

hi James -
i will echo your comment.
So many great symphonists out there - but we usually see
'the same old ones'.
I used to listen to lots of Sibelius on the radio, but i cant recall
anything that really moved me or would be a causative factor in wanting to buy a Sibelius piece.
In other words, when the rubber (music) meets the road (ears)

Default Sibelius and Wagner

Does anyone know what Sibelius thought of Wagner?

To me he [Sibelius] is a finer composer, but had little of the theatrical in him (despite having composed music for plays)
