Right, let me explain...this is actually part of my Ph.D thesis, which was never published. Years ago, someone asked me to send it to OPERA-L, which I did, then I turned it into a Web version.....then a month ago I discovered to my horror that ALL MY WEB PAGES HAD VANISHED!!! This was because Fortune City had ceased to exist - literally overnight, as far as I could ascertain, and there is no redress for anyone who had pages there. Well, fortunately I managed to at least retrieve these \(which were the most important) and someone very kindly offered to help me set up new web pages on another server.....and what you see is the result.

Have you tried searching it via the google "in cache" option? Google basically downloads parts of the internet and puts it in a database, so content from websites that no longer exists can sometimes be found anyway.
Nice moment to point out Wagner by the way, since it will be a "Wagner year" in 2013 and many companies have programmed his works.

Sorry, obviously didn't make it clear....this was one of the things I DID find in the Google cache and put on a new page.....

Yes, I've already agreed to give a paper at a Wagner conference next year....I'd better get a move on and write it!

Dead pages, broken links, the scourge of the internet. Powerhouse sites like Slashdot and Digg can bring a server to its knees. What do we do when a page is dead but we still want to see it? Call in the clerics, and perform a resurrection...

Firefox extension: Resurrect Pages 2.0.6

Have you tried this site to find "dead" webpages?

Yes, it's really useful, I did manage to retrieve some of the other pages...it was most important to find the Wagner pages, though.
I had NO IDEA that this had happened, I do now have a new domain, which I paid for, but I think I am just going to have to create some new pages as and when I have time. Another problem is that a lot of the GRAPHICS have been lost as well......
The thing is, people spend years building up their web pages, and for everything to disappear, literally overnight, with no warning and no compensation - well, it's a bit of shock, to say the least!!

Hello Leonora. I'd be curious to know what conference that might be, and the subject of your paper as well ! I'm not a Wagner specialist whatsoever, but I ask as a colleague of mine is in Cardiff tomorrow for a conference entitled "Love to Death: Transforming Opera", and will be giving a paper on the origin and function of the cor anglais solo in the Third Act of Tristan. My colleague asked me to translate his paper for him, so I've recently become familiar with the "controversies" surrounding this solo (the alte Weise).
Some claim it was inspired by a gondolier's song, others say its origins are to be found in the Swiss ranz des vaches. What do you think?
