Default Searching for music scores

Does anyone have a copy of Destiny Waltz by Sydney Baynes -- sheet music for piano, that they would be willing to scan as a PDF and share?

Thank you.

Thank you.

hey Sonatina - i think you have hit upon a good thread idea here.
Like if i am looking for a recording of something, and no recording is available or hard to find, i may have to hunt for the score to get an idea of what it sounds like.

i have a lot of sheet music and books for piano but i dont think
the particular piece you mention is in them

i will keep this Destiny Waltz in mind and do some looking -
waltz music is always good - it is used in some symphonies

someone may need to help me though with the details of this
scanning - i.e. putting pictures and text on here

Take care guys -- copyright. The law in the UK on sheet music is, basically, life plus 70 yrs. Sydney Bayes died in 1938 so he should have dropped out of copyright in 2008. I say should because there are all sorts of legal tricks his relatives can play -- relatives who've lapped for 70 yrs at copyright royalties -- to extend copyright beyond 70 yrs.

The safest way is to use IMSLP. They have a team of copyright experts who review each upload to ensure the score genuinely is out of copyright and therefore lawful to share. They then make it available.

Sorry to be anal about this but I run a grave legal risk if Brightcecilia is seen to encourage or enable copyright theft. To protect me and the site please don't use Brightcecilia -- including the private messaging system -- to exchange scores. Use IMSLP. It keeps everyone safe.

If you believe a score is out of copyright, and therefore legal to share, but is not available on IMSLP, then upload it to them. If you need advice about doing this, ask on the IMSLP forums. They're a friendly lot.

So welcome. Sorry to be paranoid... but, at one level, it's my job to be paranoid....

hi Phil - i was also wondering about notes from a record(LP) album-
are they usable - i have some albums but the manufacturers are
probably out of business. Some albums have copyright info;
others say nothing about copying or duplication.
the record makers that are outta biz likely have relatives -
are they a cause celebre perhaps

My publisher offers a legal transcription service, he pays all the royalties and will arrange/transcribe/source the music as you need it.

Send him a message, I think he's got a contact link on there!

Hope this helps
