Default 32 to 64 bits

I may be off for a day or two because I've decided that the inevitable time has arrived that I need to go from 32 to 64 bit Windows. I truly dread it because it means reloading all my programs and possibly my external hard drive not working because of lack of drivers. It's going to be an adventure, that's for sure.

Depending on where the software is coming from and going to, the process may not be as painful as you think. Try Googling on 'transfer from [x] to [y]'. (x being your old and y being your new. There may be an available cable-with-dongle, there may be a software app.

Do not be discouraged - at least until you have reached your Screw this, I need a drink point.

ps. some of your software may have a 64 bit upgrade available; 32 bit apps don't run any faster on a 64 bit platform.

My sincere condolences...may this terrible ordeal pass quickly and uneventfully!

Well, I put the 64 bit installation disk on a flash drive stick and then changed the BIOS to boot from the stick. All I got was a flashing cursor. It has an autorun file and setup file, etc.

The reason I'm doing this is because I got some server admin software from a vendor for my PowerEdge and almost all of it is 64 bit. My computer is a quad-core and it should run the 64 bit Win 7. Just gotta keep plugging. Always open to suggestions though.
