And, to include Hans Werner Henze's recent konzertoper Phaedra, which I just saw the other night:
"She loves him, but everyone dies; Act II makes no sense whatsoever." |

Not forgetting: "She loves all of them, for hundreds of years, but they all keep dying anyhow".

Anyone else remember Shaw's generic Italian Opera summation quip- "Tenor wants to mate with Soprano, but is thwarted by Baritone.":sad2:
Okay, now for the more specific- Quote:
This next is a run-on sentence... but I'll forgive myself the extra words-- because with this phrase, you get two operas by two different composers: "Leading man marshalls an army to victory, then grants clemency to the vanquished, who proceed to plot against the winners, in spite of being shown mercy... both main characters are on the wrong end of that plot development, and Leading man is joined by Female lead, who both perish in visually dramatic concluding death scene." Important note: if you ever find yourself trapped in cyberspace, singing away in the 'Opera Matrix' LARPG, and you happen to lead a victorious army, do NOT give gramercy to your defeated enemy... you WILL lose...
