I read Snow Falling on Cedars and East of the Mountains, both by David Guterson and both superb.

I am now reading The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson, which is a bit trashier and grislier than my usual tastes but pretty compelling.

Just finished The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. Great page turner. Really constructs interesting characters.

Oooh, so that is where 'Balthazar' came from.

I've always assumed they'd be rather 'difficult'.... Perhaps because of the way he is mocked mercilessly in his brother Gerald's books. However, I once heard a radio adaptaton of Justine, which I really enjoyed.

I wish the footage of Gerald Durrell being climbed all over by a hyperactive platypus was on YouTube, but alas not.

I am now reading The Black Prince by Iris Murdoch.

The DVD with Anna Maxwell Martin, Gillian Anderson, Charles Dance is so wonderful, and the book is.. almost as wonderful...!
