I love North African Arabic music.

Regarding black African music, I prefer the more traditional stuff. Though if anyone is willing to share an example of some fusion that they think is good (not some pop, please) I'd be more than willing to listen.

I love (to pull some disparate styles out of the hat) Congolese soukous, Toumani Diabate, Ali Farka Toure... you're right - we should have done more on this before.

I am very keen on Eritrean music. There is a close-knit Eritrean community in South London and this artiste, Abrehet Berhane, is very popular. The video is interesting because it features very typical Eritrean get-togethers.

Our local (to me) World Music choir called 'Quire' run by Proff Bill Tamblyn promotes African music and has links to local schools.
See below for concerts.

Saturday 28 March 7.30pm: Concert at The Westcliffe Theatre, Clacton-on-Sea

Saturday 18 April 7.30pm: Concert at St Peter ad Vincula Church, Coggeshall
