Default The Ricky Gervais Fan Corner

Time to find allied here! Anybody into Gervais here? Forget about his last movie and his stand-up stuff, let's concentrate on The Office, Extras and his podcasts!

If you're not that familiar with him, here're some essential appetizers. Difficult to find some without spoiler, but there you go:

The unusual shape (Extras):

Kate Winslet (Extras):

Comic Relief with Jamie Oliver, Bono, Bob Geldof:

Harry Potter (Extras):

Come on - any Gervais fans here?

Keith's appraisal is almost too painful to watch - too much like real life. Keith handles the interview perfectly. I was a trade union official for many years (many years ago) and negotiated the introduction of appraisal systems and that's exactly how we'd advise employees to handle their appraisal interviews.

I didn't know either Ross Kemp nor Les Dennis before of course, it's nothing but remarkable that Les Dennis took part in it after his story. Really great! The Dennis episode is my favorite next to the x-mas special, this mix of irony, humiliation and tragedy is simply priceless...

Unfortunately I think to really understand many of the jokes in Extras involving British actors/celebrities, one must be aware of the main characters they've played in the past.

Ross Kemp, for instance, played a pugnacious publican in a soap, before embarking on a series involving him interviewing dangerous gangs around the world and going to war zones etc. Hence his whole persona as a 'hard man' which is the cause of much hilarity ("I once headbutted a horse") in the episode of Extras.

Patrick Stewart explaining his movie idea was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.

It's genius.

I crack my family up with impressions of that scene. "And all her clothes fall off, and I've seen everything. I mean, I've seen it all."
