Fun thread - though maybe not. The titles of compositions are becoming odder and odder. Time to add some ideas. Which material would you want to see used?

Let's start!

"The Seven Biblical Plagues" for string quartet (... and Hindemith's seven do not count!). Or is there already a work covering the Plagues? I'd imagine, it's pretty rewarding material.

Elias Canetti's novel "Die Blendung" (Auto-da-Fé) - grand novel, would fit perfectly to dark, inward music. Loads of ancient-Chinese echoes (if you're a composer, write it now. Now, before somebody else...)

"The Clash of cultures 2.0" - a symphonic poem with orchestra, oud, buzuk, erhu, Imam (a boy's soprano) and FOX anchorman

Just as a starter... maybe this thread is a stillborn child, but maybe not - any input?

Misha,

I'd be up for the 2nd 2, but not the plagues - yuck, not me.

But, would they be operas?

Here are some other titles:

"Threnody for the Victims of Enron" - simple, really. Take the original Penderecki work, and superimpose various quotes of Enron executives explaining their innocence.

"Bush Whacker's Waltz" - a mini ballet, but the dancers have to awful, but pretend they are great.

"The sex lives of Vegatables" - but I think this has been done - poems by Lorna Crozier.

"Canadian National Anthem" - we need a new one.
