Of course well-heeled, smug middle-class people can afford to despise the indigenous white working class as racists and bigots. After all, it is not their jobs that are being taken by most of the immigrants. If middle-class composers/orchestral trombonists suddenly found that their jobs were being taken by immigrants, or that their salaries were being depressed by competition from people prepared to work for far less money, they might be a little less self-righteous.

But since their jobs haven't been taken (or outsourced to the developing world) and their salaries not depressed by those prepared to work for less, they can travel round the resulting "multicultural" paradise for all the world as if they were visiting a human safari park.

The usual (bad) argument in favour of bringing in young immigrants is that they are necessary to generate the wealth that provides the pensions for an ageing population. So, what happens when they in turn get old? Do we just keep importing more people? What about the housing, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure that this will require? What about overcrowding and environmental degradation?

The so-called liberal-left have actually become the useful idiots of the free-market right.

BTW, Sharia law is now fully recognised in civil cases in the UK. I hope this is a development you are happy with. (Some of us are concerned with two basic issues: 1) The end of equality under the law by the creation of a parallel jurisdiction; 2) The inequitable treatment meted out to women in Sharia courts.)

No. Just keep living your happy-happy multicultural fantasy in your safe bubble of affluence, until the implications of mass (third-world) immigration finally personally affect you.
This is such a strange message, I'm having a hard time responding.

It's funny that you say mass migration WILL affect me. have you ever thought that maybe it already has? and maybe, just maybe i don't mind living around people who were born somewhere else? in fact, i like it quite a bit.

I come from a city that is very immigrant based. Over %50 of Toronto's population was not born in Toronto. Almost %20 of my country is immigrant (England 8%). So, I'm living this nightmare you describe, and, well, it's not so bad. In fact, I quite like it here. My happy-happy fantasy.

I suppose you fancy flirting with "National Parties". But sir, there is also a very slippery slope on that side that can lead to absolutely terrible consequences. Should I cite, as an example, a particular "National" party, born in recession from the 20's? Nah.

I never said I favored mass immigration, just immigration. Of course, it has to be measured against infrastructure!

So, you had a government that went too far. It happens. But the solution is not the BNP - that is a hornets nest with a terrible sting. It is in a tightening of policy for breathing space, repair, and restructuring.

And, so you know, lots of music jobs are taken by immigrants here - including quite a few brits (like my boss). Should I hate them for being good at what they do? Frankly, I'm glad they are here! Many of my close friends are British born.

I mean, do you think all of the immigration is "working class"? What about those smart Canucks you have stolen?

(That is too bad about the Sharia, but keep up the fight. It was tossed out here, and, could very easily be tossed out there.)

But, here is my beef with you - you continue to use labels with strange floating references. You devilishly skirt around direct name calling. But, if I am not mistaken, here is what you think I am:

well-heeled and smug - note: you have obviously never seen my shoes!
Despiser of the "working class" (??) note: how is this measured? I think I might be one of those
self-righteous (ok, i might be that a bit. but i bow to you in this regard)
that i think the world is a human safari park - what a disgusting notion that YOU thought up

a "so-called-liberal-left" idiot - note: you be doing all the calling
i live in a fantasy - well, sure, to a degree. don't we all?

and finally, that you hope some kind of retribution is enacted against me. like, unemployment, or racial violence, or whatever it is you think is appropriate.

how sweet of you!

well, chippy, is this true?

Btw, I dare you, just dare you to respond without using the words Liberal, Class, Right, and Left. Can you do it?

As I said in my message, I don't know what the laws are in Britain. Now I know more.

But, doesn't matter what country, I do not condone racism. So therefore, I don't like the BNP. I think they would do terrible things if they gained power. Perhaps aspects of their platform are worthwhile, but not under their pure race, nationalist mission statement.

And what is this constant ranting about open minds? Am I supposed to be open to racist ideology? No thanks.

Perhaps I don't know much about your countries laws, but I have met dozens...no...hundreds of British people. Some are very close friends, and indeed family who fought for England in WWII. I have some of the inside scoop, but more from the personal level, not political.
