A collection of music from the medieval cultures bordering the Mediterranean merging elements of Arabic/Islamic, Sephardic, French Troubadours, and the Trecento.

Franz Schubert
Sonata D.894
Sviatoslav Richter

Richter takes this work slower than anyone else I know, but his Schubert really communicates. As Gould says in the documentary The Enigma, the lengthy Schubert repeats just fade away, and all that is left is... heaven and destruction, together as one.

Gorgeous, this is also the best D.894 I've ever heard. And maybe the best Schubert too!
