![]() Here's your chance to win a brilliant set of Great Composers finger puppets worth $19.95, created by the Unemployed Philosophers Guild. It couldn't be simpler. All you have to do is tell us on this thread who your favourite composer is. Cite several if you prefer. (It would be nice if you can tell us why you like him/her/them but it is not compulsory .) This prize draw is open to all members of brightcecilia, not just new ones. There are no right answers. A winner will be picked at random after the draw closes at midnight on 16 June 2008. Good luck everyone! ![]() Last edited by Florestan; 15-05-08 at 06:45 PM. |

I LOVE the unemployed philosophers guild. What's the point of an employed philosopher? It’s an offence against nature.
I see they give large amounts to charity. Trouble is, I've no fixed favourite composer. If sitting in traffic, I belt out opera. When reading in the dead of night - Tallis. If stiffening the sinews for a visit from the in-laws, something spiky and sarcastic by Mozart. Does that count or must I pretend musical monomania? I doubt UPG would approve...![]() ![]()

Uh-oh.... We seem to have developed a fifth, rather large finger puppet. And it appears to be hungry...
![]() PS: IMPORTANT NOTICE. THE PRIZE THAT WILL BE SENT TO THE WINNER WILL BE A BRAND NEW BOXED SET, NOT OUR SLIGHTLY CAT-CHEWED COMPOSERS! |

That's fine - you can have as many or as few as you like. It won't be an albatross around your neck for ever more. (I have amended the original wording above to say that people can cite several if they wish.) |

I would go for Bach, Part and Barber, I think.

That's not hunger, but singing.
I'm a Rodrigo man. I don't care it's commercialised, it's not Rodrigo's fault, but capitalismo.[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxwceLlaODM&feature=related"]YouTube - Narciso Yepes - Concierto de Aranjuez (2)[/ame] |

What's that fella playing? It's a guitar but with double the normal strings. Does he take some bits down an octave? It's highly effective. Rodrego is wonderful but I go for... Gorecki.

He's wonderful!!! Passionate, romantic... you can find all in his music; I deeply love him, but also Beethoven and ... It's not an easy choice!!!! Maria |
