I have to say my most favored composer would be Joseph Haydn. I think this is so because his life spanned many decades of musical and cultural development. Not only did he contribute significantly to the development of the symphony and quartet forms, but throughout his life influenced and had relationships with a number of prominent composers.
Perhaps more than this, though, was his approach to music in general. He struggled to create a compositional career for himself from the squalid existence he was forced to live after being forced to leave St. Stephen's Cathedral (his voice had finally matured and was no longer useful as a singer). Having learned from the writings of CPE Bach, he eventually progressed - through nothing but hard work and faith - to a level in which he was known as 'Father of the Symphony', wrote music for numerous musicians, royalty and dignitaries, and influenced the understanding of composers from both his own period and future generations...... All this, and a wicked sense of humor!! Glenn |

Those are GREAT puppets! I especially like the extra-large sized one; my beagle would love to play with that one. Heh heh.
Favorite composer... I have so many. Here's what I like best today: Handel (also because I was born on his birthday) Part Vaughn Williams Holst Hovanness Grieg Anonymous ;-) |

Glenn[/QUOTE] --> You have that right, Glenn! Especially the unfinished symphony; played that a number of years ago and it was great fun walking off the stage! |
