Hi all!

I came across this blog post on combatting opera's death in another online discussion forum and thought I'd share it with you. What do you recon?

I think the internet has breathed new life into what could have been a dying art form.

Downloading is simple & cheap & you can find synopses & libretti easily. I know the sound quality isn't brilliant but I love listening on my PC while I'm on the net. (Simon Keenlyside Schubert Lieder at the moment).

A few years ago I would have struggled to get to see a performance at the Liceu or Bayerische Staatsoper but it's easier now.

I completely agree with you!

I have managed to download some really good versions of some of my favourite operas, Carmen is quite easy to get hold of in various recordings.

I do think that using the internet is vital for any art form these days. opera will have to move with the times too.

Opera is where a guy gets stabbed in the back, and instead of dying, he sings.”
