The work is among Grieg's earliest important works, written by the 24-year-old composer in 1868 in Søllerød, Denmark, during one of his visits there to benefit from the climate, being warmer than that of his native Norway.

I love that concerto, but I love some of the Lyric Pieces even more.

I visited Norway 3 years ago and took a few pictures at Grieg's house. It was quite a thrill to be able to take a peek at his piano inside his cabin by the fjord, and to imagine the master at work!
