Lovely memories: I was present at the premiere of this Schnittke symphony. A commission by the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra for its centenary in 1988.
Riccardo Chailly and the (then not yet, but nearly Royal) Concertgebouw Orchestra brought this piece with gusto.

Thanks to the stimulating "Cage: Hack or Mastermind?" thread, I've been inspired to revisit his First Construction (in metal), performed here on the CD I have by the Quatuor Hêlios.
Nice CD jacket cover too: Marcel Duchamp, "A Bruit Secret" (1916).

And then there was... the Dissonance quartet! Which I suspected might be great from its reputation, but experiencing it is something else.

It was the premiere in the Concertgebouw itself, the Concertgebouw Orchestra at its home base, so to say
