I'm going to Berlin. (by the bye) For ten months. Hopefully there will be a good many opera and symphony concerts in my future. I'll keep you updated.

Oh, yeah, Despina, please do!! I'd be very interested to know what their music scene is like. I'll bet it's excellent!!! Have a great time and share any nuggets with us that you can.

Default Yellow Lounge

Besides the other music attractions there in Berlin: try to get tickets for the Yellow Lounge (http://www.yellowlounge.de/yl_events.php), a "Deutsche Grammophon" project in Berlin featuring some of the DG icons (Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Janine Jansen, Hilary Hahn) in club atmosphere. I had the chance to see Daniel Hope, the Emerson String Quartet and Hélène Grimaud there (she repeated her Beethoven sonata), just unique evenings! This might give you an impression of it - terrible acoustics, but great atmosphere and you can drink a beer with the soloist(s) afterwards:

That's a great idea -- drive them from the concert halls and their tuxedos. It would be good to see similar clubs in London Paris, NYC etc.

Not really. Either Philidor was being rhetorical or he meant the players themselves.
