Default Super videoclip of CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN from Paris Opera

The Opéra de Bastille have generously loaded a huge streaming videoclip of their new production of CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN on their website. I saw this show last night, and was flabbergasted at the quality of the musical performance (Dennis Russell Davies conducts) and the astounding visual staged production.

But don't take my word for it - have a look for yourself

click on 'La Petite Renard Rusee' video clip

click on 'La Petite Renard Rusee' - but hurry, the show has now ended and they'll probably take the clip down quite soon.

Wow that’s quite a chunk. Thank you. Stunning. How much is there? I watched 10 minutes and the slider hardly moved.

It's the complete work Amazingly generous approach, isn't it? Considering that Bayreuth are trying to charge online viewers over 50 euros for a ticket that allows you to watch TRISTAN & ISOLDE online just once!

Perhaps this reflects a cultural difference between France and the rest of Europe? The French (to generalise) see art, culture and intellectual pursuits as part of a patriotic national dialogue, a proud expression of who they are. While the British (to generalise) view art as something rather shameful, subversive, and shot through with an inherited Cromwellian guilt. The Germans are also proud of the arts but touchy about Wagner. Didn’t Bader-Meinhof bomb Bayreuth?

Yes, it has to pass the castor-oil test - it can't be any good for you if you actually enjoyed it

We watched it last night - it is wonderful.

Next time I get in an argument (moi?) I shall quote the badger:

"MY INDIGNATION HAS REACHED ITS PEAK!"

It wasn't actually as long as I was expecting it to be.

Brilliant - and surreal ("Err, why is that man singing to a mushroom?"). The kids playing the various creatures are really cute - in a good way.

The music is just fantastic. I love Janacek.
